Cosplay makeup (and makeup in general) clogs my pores pretty bad so I’m always on the lookout for exfoliators. I was at my local Asian grocery store and I wandered into the beauty isle and could not leave without this!
A fruity jelly that gently exfoliates? CUTE!
Detclear Bright and Peel comes in berry and lemon (there’s also an unscented version somewhere out there, but who cares?), of course I chose the berry. I wasn’t sure how to use it so I had to google it as soon as I got home. Apparent you just rub 1 or 2 pumps of the jelly goo all over your face. As you’re rubbing it’s supposed to pill up with all the dead skin you’ve accumulated on your face. Freaky.
The reviews were overwhelmingly positive so I was super excited to get down and shed some dead skin. xD
And it looks like this straight out of the bottle.
I removed my makeup but I didn’t wash my face. I rubbed two pumps of the jelly all over my dry face for about 1 minute. Wow, balls of gooey crap just started forming. It was actually a little gross so I forgot to take a picture of it, haha.
After massaging a little more, I rinsed my face but still felt there was a light film of…something covering my skin. However, after patting my face dry, my skin felt quite smooth.
Hm. Still not convinced, I decided to get scientific and rubbed the goo all over my clean granite counter top. To my disappointment, it still pilled up the same amount. Balls of crap all over my counter. ;_;
I take my skincare seriously and if it doesn’t fulfill what it advertises, then I can’t rate it highly. I’d rather pay more for something that is 100% effective than less for a product that is not quite as good. The novelty of Detclear Bright and Peel entertains me, but it bothers me that the gel pills up no matter what surface you rub it on—very gimmicky.
I guess I’ll stick to my other exfoliating products for now.
